Coal Mine by BoChicoine Coal Mine by BoChicoine
Pre-rendered isometric 3D coal mine.

To carry on with the current medieval theme I decided to model a coal-mine. This time I really tried to perfect the textures and lighting setup and I'm pretty happy with the results! It's also probably worth noting that the final image would likely be scaled down a bit, so to make sure the silhouette would still be recognizable from a distance I tried several different rock formations ending on what you see here.

I hope you enjoy it and leave a comment! :)

Tools used:
Photoshop, 3dsmax, MentalRay and a wacom bamboo pen/touch tablet.
All textures are created in photoshop using layers/blending effets and is 100% original work.

Looks great, I could easily see that on a game map! Textures are very nicely done

I use photoshop to make my textures with multiple layers and blending effects for the diffuse.

I always try to keep the diffuse as neutral-toned as possible and let the highlights and bump-maps do most of the heavy-lifting at runtime ;)

For more information check out ~Jimpaw, he has some excellent diffuse textures that never fail to inspire me!
