Hey People,
Hope you like how its turning out and please let me know what you think!
A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks, I wont bore you with the details here but needless to say there hasn't been a great deal of time to work on this thing. I have however, made some headway with the textures (finally).
It's actually a shame since moving onto the materials it's becoming painfully obvious that I need to put some more work into the model itself (I know i'm contradicting myself in a previous journal entry but there are two sides to every coin and this one seems to be spinning?) Either way since I'd really like to make this model just as pretty up-close as from afar, it means putting in some extra iterations.
Most of the architecture is too "straight edged" and the colours need work, probably the lighting too. The stone masonry absolutely woeful and it might sound like I'm being hard on myself here but the truth is, making 3D Models can be a grueling process and not for the faint of heart! Having had the good fortune to work with some pretty hard-cutting project managers in my past means i'm not afraid of feedback or criticism, however so if you spot anything else that needs work let me know. I am also aware of the many smaller parts to this model (such as foliage and beer barrels) whcih will be added in due-course.
NB:// Please excuse the ranting, it's quite late here and way past my bedtime Here's the rear shot:

Does anyone actually read these things?
I got a job in an animation studio back in December. it was a really difficult time leading up to the interview and there was going to be a major change in my life one way or another, I feel like I got lucky, but at the same time all the years of work seemed to finally pay off.
So happy right now :)
Destiny Environment part 1
Hey all,
With the release of Bungie's latest title: Destiny I have fond memories of thrashing through the entire Halo series. But my sentimentality actually stretches as far back as the 1990's when I used to spend many long summer afternoons trekking around in the Marathon Games.
One of the things I remember being very prevalent in those games (and the ensuing Halo franchise) was the environment art which I found to be as immersive as it was beautiful. my first taste was after breaching through a room full of "Phor" in Marathon and stopping by a large open window because something caught my eye. It was actually the ship I was on - but I was

Ol' Rowdy's Inn (v.06)
OK Folks,
Still a few things to work out but after making a huge push on this I have made some very significant development. The addition of foliage really makes this scene come to life and was really a pleasure to make.
There's still a few things to do, being the perfectionist I am I have to add more dirt/grime to the roof and walls, and everything looks very straight edged, so some sagging of the wooden beams will help a lot too.
These screenshots are nearly exact matches to the concept model photos as tuskarsart (https://www.deviantart.com/tuskarsart)'s, I wanted to see how similar they would look.
I'll be uploading it to Sketchfab once I'm finished and will post a link

Well, I think you are to harsh with your own critic. Yes of course the bricks and stones for the masonry are to big in size. There are some deatais missing, but you mentioned working on them. Looking at the big chimney (on the original model) I have to admit, that I was very lazy in painting it. That's why I think it is looking much better in your lighting
